The Painting and Decorating Foundation and the Wall and Ceiling Contractors Association of Metro St. Louis proudly represent over 120 local signatory contractors. Our members combined employ nearly 2,500 painters and carpenters in the St. Louis area, and we strongly believe that their success relies on a highly-trained and well-paid workforce. In conjunction with our partners at the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades and the Midwest Carpenters Regional Council, we are committed to training and employing a skilled and productive construction workforce.
What You Gain
First and foremost, you will immediately earn outstanding pay, with wages that rapidly grow over the course of a four year program. An apprentice painter, taper, or carpenter starts out earning around $20 an hour, and this wage steadily grows over the course of your apprenticeship until you reach journeyman wages well over $35 an hour!
Additionally, instead of taking on tens of thousands of dollars in debt while attending a college or for-profit trade school, you will receive a cutting edge education in your trade at no cost to you. Earn WHILE you learn, that’s our philosophy.
A career in the finishing trades also provides outstanding healthcare coverage and an excellent pension plan to secure a comfortable retirement for you and your family.
Opportunities for the Future
There are incredible opportunities for growth and career development in the construction trades. Many of our workers who start out as apprentice painters and carpenters go on to rewarding roles as site superintendents, estimators, project managers, and even business owners. Joining this industry opens many paths to success!
